Thank You for Auditioning - Announcing the Cast of Misery

Greetings,

First and foremost, I want to extend my heartfelt thanks to each and every one of you for auditioning for Misery at Southside Theatre Guild. Your talent, passion, and dedication made these auditions an incredible experience, and I am truly grateful that you took the time to share your gifts with us.

This was not an easy decision by any means. Every one of you fought valiantly for a role, and it was clear how much effort and heart you poured into your auditions. The level of talent on that stage made my job both a privilege and a challenge. Rest assured that nothing about this process was taken lightly, and any casting decisions should not be seen as a slight against you or anyone else. Casting is always a complex puzzle, and my goal was to ensure that each piece fell into place as I envisioned for this production.

Thankfully, I was also fortunate to have the insights of others who were present during auditions, which provided valuable perspectives and helped ensure that no detail was overlooked. I sincerely hope that you all enjoyed the audition process as much as I did, and I encourage you to return and audition for future shows. Your presence at Southside Theatre Guild enriches our community, and I look forward to seeing you again.

Thank you for your interest in auditioning for a Southside Theatre Guild production!

Whether you've auditioned with us before or this is your first time, we are thrilled to have you join us. Southside Theatre Guild has been a part of the community for 52 years, and our success is built on welcoming new people, new talent, and new voices like yours.

Audition Details

Dates: August 5 and 6
Sign-In: 6:30 p.m.
Auditions Begin: 7 p.m.

Auditions will consist of cold readings from the script or "warm" readings if you've seen the sides, which are available on our blog: http://miserystg.blogspot.com.

About the Play

Misery follows successful romance novelist Paul Sheldon, who is rescued from a car crash by his "number one fan," Annie Wilkes, and wakes up captive in her secluded home. As Paul convalesces, Annie reads his latest book and becomes enraged when she discovers he has killed off her favorite character, Misery Chastain. Annie forces Paul to write a new Misery novel, and he quickly realizes Annie has no intention of letting him go. The irate Annie has Paul writing as if his life depends on it—and it does.

Important Information

• All roles are non-paid. If you are a member of a union, please ensure that your potential participation complies with union guidelines.

• No roles have been precast. 

• Diversity. We encourage diversity, and unless specified, roles are open to all races and ethnicities.

• Character Breakdown and Sides. Available on our blog to help you prepare.

• Schedule. Our auditorium seats up to 206 audience members, and shows run for two weekends, Thursday through Sunday, with an invited guest night the Tuesday before opening. The first Saturday includes a matinee. 

• Attendance. Attendance is crucial, so please communicate your availability and any conflicts upfront.

We always have more people audition than we have roles available, and many factors influence casting decisions. If you aren't cast this time, we encourage you to audition for future productions. Every audition is a valuable experience and an opportunity to grow.
